In summer, the Allison recreation area is a paradise for mountain bikers and hikers. Beyond the campsites, no motorized vehicles are allowed on the many trails through the sub-alpine forest. Essential gear is bike or boots (or both) and a camera, as there are mountain vistas, alpine and sub-alpine flowers in bloom and perhaps wildlife to be captured on film. For anglers, there are trout to be caught in Allison Lake, and a small sandy beach that entices sun bathers and swimmers. History buffs will enjoy the occasional derelict cabin and other signs of the logging that went on a century ago. There is summer camping nearby at Allison Lake. This is a popular spot so you may need to come early. Better yet, come into Crowsnest Pass, visit our community and stay at one of the fine accommodations available to travelers. |
